Be sure the tip of the tube goes into the center of the spring in the cover. I believe it's clockwise for on, counter for off. The spring holds it in place once it's twisted over to that point. Positive Grid BIAS AMP Full version is the ultimate virtual amp designer, authentically recreating the tone and feel of real tube amplifiers, while allowing you to mix and match components to create your ideal amp. Line that up, push the cover over the tube and into the socket, and turn the cover so that the nub in the socket hooks into the little resting spot in the cover. There's also a small out-dent (sic) on the rim of the cover that lines up with a matching slot in the rim of the socket. Probably need to get your amp to a tech if tubes and cables are ruled out.Īlso, re: preamp tube covers: look at the cover, you'll notice there's a channel for a little nub in the socket to fit through and around, like a hook-shaped relief. I got the amp back with some replaced resistors from somewhere near the end of the signal chain (I honestly forget what they were). Tried tubes and everything I could swap or tweak myself - ended up taking it in for a repair.

I had a crackling/popping thing going on with my LSC years ago. SWR uses a pair of 7. If one side measures 7.5Vdc then look at the power supply board. I would obviously like to locate and verify exactly what the problem is first so I don't needlessly spend loads on new valves I may not need! there should be +/- 15VDC for the preamp. I am also running it on the 50w mode.Īny help would be much appreciated. Thinking it might be the V1 preamp tube (because it's on both channels) I removed them all and moved them all to different slots and that made no difference either. I did also notice that the noise seems a little louder when the "tube rectifier" switch is on the silicone diodes option, but the noise is still present on both selections too. I already tried tapping all of the preamp tubes with a pencil to see if I could work out which it was but the tapping didn't seem to induce the noise, instead it's pretty constant regardless. I've attached a short recording so you can hear what it sounds like, and from all the research I've done so far I can tell you that the crackling is present on both channels. 40 OFF BIAS FX 2 Elite Award-Winning Guitar Amp & Effects Software. Be first to get advanced wireless control for your Spark. I assume it's probably a tube needs replacing but I was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose what exactly it is. Be first to get pure untethered freedom with Spark LINK. The deck is not worth it to me to send off to a tech.I've been recording a lot recently using my Lonestar classic but it seems to have developed a problem with crackling. Ive had a guitar technician look at it, but he couldnt find anything. Sorry my electronics knowledge is limited. My guitar tube amp has a disease of some sort:cry: When I turn it on everything works fine, but after heating up (whan Ive played for 15-30 minutes) it starts crackling and buzzing, probably a short circuit. If anyone can give me an idea where to look for a bad cap on the board (maybe all recording caps/parts are in one spot?) or maybe has had a similar problem with a BX125 any help would be greatly appreciated. Machine only crackles when recording.Ĥ) All heads have of course been cleaned very well to no avail. No crackling when playing a tape made on another machine. Dolby B, Dolby C, Dolby off all crackle.ģ) Machine plays tapes perfectly. I need my sample rate low because latency kills the feel of playing the guitar. I am pretty sure it has to di with my latency/sample rate. When I arm a track and add Bias FX2, when i start to play guitar I get some crackling. Choose the corresponding input (s) (on your audio interface) connected to your guitar/instrument. I record guitar tracks and I use bias fx2. Choose 'Stereo' or 'Mono' input, if youre using only one input for your guitar, please choose 'Mono'. Sounds exactly like a bad cap to me.Ģ) Crackling happens regardless of Dolby settings. Select your audio interface as your Input Device. So here are the symptoms.ġ) Putting the machine into record with nothing actually playing I can hear quite loud crackling sounds.

I literally replaced every single electrolytic cap in the machine but I still get crackling. So I figured that it must be an electrolytic somewhere going bad. I thought the crackling sound was from orange cap disease so I first replaced all of the orange caps. All other functions on the deck work fine. I recently received a Nakamichi BX125 that makes a crackling sound when making a recording.
